Warfare 2012

nd and turned out be an overwhelming success with 38 competitors from all over South Wales and a massive crowd of supporters. We were blown away with the support and atmosphere which helped raise a combined total of £2300 for Charity. The Money was split evenly between Macmillan and Cystic Fibrosis, two charities close to the hearts of the members of Force. The day kicked off with a bang with iconic Tyre flip and then moved through a series of rounds involving the Log Press, Farmers Walk and Prowler Suicide Race leading to a grand finale in the last Event of the Medley! The atmosphere was immense with the crowd getting behind each competitor to go that extra 10% faster or squeeze out that extra rep. The three categories of Male Heavyweight, Male Lightweight and Female were all fiercely competitive. The female contest was won by Sarah Jones from Cardiff, with Vicky McDonald second and Tanya Bull just beating Sian David for third place by a single point. The Lightweight Male was the biggest category with some great battles on the day. Owen Newton and Andrew Tyler fought tooth and nail in the closest of medleys and Mark Tait, Marc Bennett-Jones and James Coupland all turned in great performances but just missed out on the prizes. There wasn’t much to separate the top three with Andrew Bourner third and Greg Callow second just coming up short to Winner Andy Shaw who performed consistently all day winning 3 events out of 5. The Heavyweight section was dominated by Dan Forbes and Huw Alford with Dan just piping Huw for the trophy and prizes.  Scott Graham performed consistently but just came up short of Ryan Jenkins for third place. There were some great highlights through the day with heroes being made; Julia Gilliatt and Cath Thomas got the crowd going in the Log Press and Tim Jones just managing to grit his teeth to hold on long enough to get over the line in the farmers walk. We have to thank everyone involved who helped make it such a great day especially our sponsors Genetic Engineered Supplements, Gatorade, Under Armour Teamwear, Arboreal and Giovannis restaurants. The day was one of fun, enjoyment and competition with everyone supporting each other all in aid of two great charities. We hope next year will be bigger and even better!
